My Own Adventure recognizes that your privacy is very important to you and that you have a right to control your personal information. We know that providing personal information is an act of trust and we take that seriously.

My Own Adventure & best practice privacy standards:

My Own Adventure is committed to protecting your personal information. We believe that our privacy policy is both fair and representative of industry best practice. The Internet Industry Association is developing a Code which provides a high standard of privacy protection. My Own Adventure is committed to complying with this Code, and building on the high levels of trust that it enjoys with its tens of thousands of customers. My Own Adventure will comply with any laws introduced to strengthen protections for consumers’ privacy.

What information we collect about you:

My Own Adventure will not collect or monitor any personal information about you without your consent. Only information you provide My Own Adventure with directly will be collected, such as through subscribing to various products & services, or identifying yourself when requesting information to be sent to you. The only personal information we collect is what you tell us about yourself. For example, when you fill out a request form, we collect the details you enter to enable us to post information to you. When you answer questions about what you would like to see we keep this information so as to better serve you.

My Own Adventure uses “cookies” to help enhance your experience on the site. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer’s hard disk for record-keeping purposes. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies as the default. If you do not wish to receive any cookies you may set your browser to refuse cookies. However, this will not enable you to use the full functionality of the website.

The use of cookies can also enhance your experience on the My Own Adventure site, by remembering information that you have previously given to us. They can make it easier for you to fill out forms, shop online and can ensure that information provided to you is most relevant to your interests. Cookies themselves do not contain personal information about you. They simply operate as a unique identifier which helps us to know what our customers find interesting and useful on our website, almost like a continuing questionnaire. My Own Adventure does not store any personal information inside cookies, although the cookie may identify the user’s browser.

Using & disclosing your personal information:

My Own Adventure will not use or disclose any specific information about you without your consent, unless required by law. My Own Adventure and its affiliates recognise the trust you place in us when you give us personal information. We will use this aggregated information to bring you products & services which we believe will be of benefit to you. However, we will not disclose specific information about you to any other company without your explicit consent.

Information & Promotional Emails:

From time to time we will send you relevant information emails regarding products and services which you have previously registered your interest in. If you are receiving promotional information from My Own Adventure and do not wish to receive this information any longer, you may unsubscribe from any mailings by sending an email to webmaster@improveliteracy.com with subject line “Unsubscribe opt-in offer”.

Storage & security of your details:

My Own Adventure will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. In addition, My Own Adventure’s employees and data processors are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by My Own Adventure. However, My Own Adventure will not be held responsible for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal information. We encourage you to play an important role in keeping your personal information secure, by maintaining the confidentiality of any passwords and account details used on the My Own Adventure website.

The information you give us about your child and his/her friends and family will only be used to create your book – it will be held for 120 days and then deleted from our database.

We hold the details for 120 days so that in the unlikely event your book doesn’t arrive, we can produce a duplicate without you completing the personalisation process for a second time.

We will only use the information that you give us about yourself to process orders, dispatch orders, process payments and communicate with you about our products, services and any other news from My Own Adventure that we think may interest you.

By supplying us with your details, you are only consenting to us using them in the ways described above.

However, if you would prefer not to receive emails from us, please contact us and we’ll make sure that we omit your details from our mailing lists.

My Own Adventure may provide links to websites outside of the My Own Adventure website. These linked sites are not under the control of My Own Adventure, and we are not responsible for the conduct of companies linked to our website.
